I decided to try a different platform that Wordpress for this site.

I won’t try to justify the exact reasons why I’m not using WP, but instead will list what I wanted:

  • Native use of Markdown
  • Static rendering of the site
  • Easy to backup to github
  • Preprocessors for code highlighting and text-as-diagrams

I tried several based on Rust, Go, and even Elixir, but wound up choosing the Ruby tool Jekyll.
